Many people tell me, they always wanted to learn an instrument, but were frustrated, intimidated by traditional approaches, told they are not talented or even feel like they are too old to start now. Learning an instrument at any point in your life is a great way to unwind and have fun.
Having studied music for many years with the most amazing teachers, I know it's not about endless repetition. The key to learning anything is flow, that place of ease and positive addiction where this is all you want to do, all day and all night. Let's find that place for you.
Claire Idan-Sun, flute student
You might think this is obvious but in my expierience most teachers have some kind of fixed program. Many people get frustrated because what first drew them to music and what they actually wanted to learn somehow gets lost on the way. That's why my first step is to find out what you want to learn. On my path, I have played more styles than I can remember: classical European, Jazz, traditional Irish, Greek, Brazilian, Israeli, Bulgarian, Norwegian, and Turkish, Klezmer, Salsa and many more. What are you into?
Whether you are taking your first steps with this amazing instrument or are a seasoned player, I am happy to accompany you. We can work on alto, tenor or soprano, deepen styles you already know or explore new directions.
I am open to working with beginning to intermediate players in any style (classical, jazz, traditional etc.). On an advanced level, we can work on improvisation, oriental elements such as quarter tones and other fun stuff.
Some people are happy to just strum a few chords to accompany their favorite tunes. Others dream of playing melodies and complex harmonies. I am happy to work with you whereever you are on that spectrum.
We can set up a free 15-20 minute chat to talk about your goals and check if I am the right teacher for you.
